\u2013\u00a0C.G. Jung<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Coined in the 70s, burnout has been increasing in popularity and prevalence in the modern world. The number of people experiencing burnout continues to grow, despite increased awareness of self-care and coping strategies, indicating these are not enough to combat such a widespread and debilitating condition. From a Jungian perspective, burnout is a call for change, an initiatory event where the individual has no option to return to their old life attitude. Jung saw potential positivity in neurosis and identified its \u201cfunction,\u201d such as neurotic symptoms being efforts at self-healing in the process of individuation. Both symptoms and dreams will symbolically convey the person\u2019s story; burnout becomes something not happening outside of us, but arising from internal conflict that has reached its limit. Suffering then gains meaning, making it more bearable. In this two-week course<\/strong>, we\u2019ll explore burnout from two perspectives: Jung\u2019s Psychological Types (week 1) and the structure of the psyche (week 2).<\/p>\n
