The realisation that insecurity is the natural state for humans, in fact, it’s healthy state, is paradoxical in today\u2019s thinking \u2013 David Russell made this statement to the Melbourne Jung Society in a talk he gave in 2012.<\/p>\n

David goes on to say that \u201cOur desire for security and certainty, when we give into it, is deadly. \u00a0We begin to live in an anaesthetised and soulless world, and no amount of super-technological wizardry and Internet manipulation can bring it back!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

It was Paul Eluard who wrote:\u00a0\u201cI understand another soul only by transforming my own, \u2018as one transforms one\u2019s hand by placing it in another\u2019s.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

This evening\u2019s talk will offer some further thoughts as to how this understanding relates to \u2018personal growth\u2019 and then, how this realisation\u00a0might help us better orientate ourselves in the external and inner worlds.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

David\u2019s orientation in preparing tonight\u2019s talk has been to stay with the mythopoetic tradition focusing on myth, poetic imagery and story\u00a0rather than the philosophical. \u00a0David believes these expressions best sum up what he calls \u201cThe Jungian Project.\u201d \u00a0He will be referencing Rilke, as well as Rumi\u2019s poetry, and the mythic theme of Inanna\u2019s descent.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
