For our next Myth Salon Terry Ebinger will be guiding us through an exploration of character arcs and mythic journeys that will be transferable to each of our lives in a real and practical way.\u00a0 Her intention is to inspire us to follow the lead of these regular humans in movies, and to do the work to become wise elders in our own right.<\/p>\n
The most compelling films about wise elderhood serve as journeys into mythic territory \u2014 offering daunting trials, vital awakenings, necessary sacrifices, and healing transformations. We’ll explore pilgrimage, mentoring, character, eccentricity, giftedness, forgiveness work, receiving help and facing death \u2014 all repeating motifs of eldership films. Through the lens of depth psychology, myth, and the language of dream, we’ll observe and amplify the values, attitudes, and tasks of later life individuation.<\/p>\n
Wisdom fits into very small spaces and the thinnest moments in time.\u00a0 It is large and small at the same time.\u00a0 It fits neatly into categories and expands to cover the breadth of the cosmos.\u00a0 Often, we arrive at the threshold of wisdom and we either overlook or miss the opportunity for enlightenment, which is why age can often be a contributing factor to making sense of profound occurrences.\u00a0 Terry Ebinger may not be a wise elder herself, but is well on her way! She is wise in her knowledge about film, story, archetypes, and the power of how to recognize characters of virtue when she sees them.\u00a0 We\u2019re really fortunate that she is returning to the Myth Salon to take us on a journey to explore Th<\/em>e<\/em> Way<\/em> of the Wise El<\/em>der<\/em> in\u00a0Film. We all seek guidance and direction in mapping our journey.
