It strikes many readers as an amalgam of a number of familiar fairy-tale motifs, as we encounter an enchanted princess, a witchy old woman who lives deep in the woods, giants, unreachable castles atop glass mountains, robbers and more. Our tale is long and meandering because it addresses the long, meandering, and difficult task of realising and bringing into life the \u2018personal spirit\u2019 that has suffered early, pre-verbal trauma and gone into hiding. \u201cThe Raven\u201d explores the extraordinarily complex process of \u2018redeeming\u2019 the personal spirit, enabling it to become an integral part of the conscious personality. The tale is endlessly rewarding; it opens the reader to a deeper understanding of the mysteries and dynamics of the psyche at each reading.
