Croatia sits at the crossroads of Europe, where East and West begin to blend. Its history and culture represent a cross-section of culture and customs dating back to the Greek and Roman civilizations, and continuing until today with Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Hungary, and Bosnia and Herzegovina on its borders. Building on the backdrop of Croatia\u2019s conflict and recent conciliation, we will explore some of the themes that affect our lives and relationships- including forgiveness, reconciliation, wholeness, splitting, and projection of shadow \u2014 all elements which in one way or another mirror our personal, individual struggles.<\/p>\n
These struggles and conflicts \u2014 personal as well as political \u2014 are driven by powerful archetypal energies. Moreover, such situations can deteriorate and reach a point where mean-spiritedness and hostility become a reality. Former positive relationships are sacrificed, fulfilling unconscious, archetypal agendas. These energies amplify passions and make genuine dialogue and relatedness difficult or impossible. This is true both on an individual level, where personal complexes and threats to our ego-ideal are easily constellated, and on the collective level, when issues of power and ego-security are involved. In general, these conflicts tend to be mythologized and take on a dramatic structure around the dynamic of good and bad, right and wrong.<\/p>\n
Our 2024 Fall Study tour will provide participants with the rare opportunity to travel with outstanding faculty and hear thoughtful, dynamic presentations along the way. We will begin our program in the ancient, scenic 2,000-year-old town of Split, situated on the Adriatic Sea, where we will enjoy exploring some of its better-known sites, including the historic palace built for the Roman Emperor Diocletian in the third century, and the Cathedral of Saint Domnius, considered to be the oldest and smallest Cathedral in the world.<\/p>\n
From Split, we will drive to Dubrovnik \u2014 known as the \u201cPearl of the Adriatic\u201d \u2014 with the opportunity to view some of the most spectacular coastline in Europe along the way.<\/p>\n
