Teaching practice thus develops \u2018on the job\u2019, and the main resource (at least initially) that teachers refer to are the experiences that they had as students when training.<\/p>\n<p>This workshop is an opportunity for experienced and beginning teachers, and those thinking of teaching in the future to critically evaluate their current or future teaching practice through the lens of recent developments in learning theory, and to share practice with like-minded colleagues.<\/p>\n<p>Key areas of focus in the workshop will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The planning and preparation phase of teaching<\/li>\n<li>The choice and use of readings in teaching sessions<\/li>\n<li>Balancing didactic and interactive activities<\/li>\n<li>Managing transitions in teaching sessions<\/li>\n<li>The role of teacher in moderating discussions<\/li>\n<li>Working with the some key conundrums and conflicts that can arise in teaching session<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Taking on the role of teacher in a psychotherapy\/psychoanalysis training programme is something that many clinicians do, often without formal preparation.
