{"id":110055,"date":"2024-09-20T14:45:25","date_gmt":"2024-09-20T13:45:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jungian.directory\/fcxfougk\/?post_type=mec-events&#038;p=110055"},"modified":"2024-09-20T14:45:25","modified_gmt":"2024-09-20T13:45:25","slug":"journal-of-analytical-psychology-meeting-the-author-leigh-money","status":"publish","type":"mec-events","link":"https:\/\/jungian.directory\/fcxfougk\/jungian-events\/journal-of-analytical-psychology-meeting-the-author-leigh-money\/","title":{"rendered":"Journal of Analytical Psychology \u2013 Meeting the Author Leigh Money"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Leigh Money will present her Michael Fordham Prize-winning paper:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Labels and the Self: Identity Labels as Scaffold<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Published in the\u00a0<em>Journal of Analytical Psychology<\/em>, 2023, Vol. 68, 3, 590\u2013608<\/p>\n<p>A free copy of the paper is available:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1111\/1468-5922.12922\">Labels and the Self: Identity Labels as Scaffold \u2013 Money \u2013 2023 \u2013 Journal of Analytical Psychology \u2013 Wiley Online Library<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In this paper Leigh Money explores the different functions of self-adopted labels such as \u201cneurodiverse,\u201d \u201cgenderfluid,\u201d \u201csex-positive,\u201d \u201cADHD,\u201d and \u201chighly-sensitive\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Just as scaffolding may facilitate new development, so too may the use of labels lead to growth.\u00a0 However, the very same labels can also be used to defensively shield by way of presenting a \u2018labelled self\u2019 that is not up for discussion.\u00a0 Composite clinical material is used to illustrate these different possibilities.<\/p>\n<p>This will be the fourth event in the\u00a0<em>JAP<\/em>\u00a0series in which selected authors present their papers and provide the opportunity to ask questions and to enter into a discussion.<\/p>\n<p>Participation is free but restricted to psychotherapeutic practitioners.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leigh Money<\/strong>\u00a0is an analyst member of The Society of Analytical Psychology (SAP). She has a private practice in London, and also works with Immigrant Counselling and Psychotherapy (ICAP), a charitable organization supporting Irish people in Britain. She is a books review editor for the\u00a0<em>Journal of Analytical Psychology<\/em>\u00a0and on the training faculty for the psychodynamic psychotherapy training at the SAP.
