This lecture will explore various passages in the\u00a0<em>Black Books<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>The Red Book<\/em> which actually herald the dawn of a new stellar consciousness. The sun is no longer the primary symbol of the Self; rather it is the star. The sun has entered the underworld, the nocturnal world of the unconscious. C.G. Jung calls this figure Anthropos, an image of the greater human being in us, or, we might say, the collective unconscious or \u201ceverything human\u201d in us. The Anthropos embraces the opposites of the human psyche and is the origin of the human capacity for empathy and relatedness as well as the emotional brutality and fanaticism of mass man in our time. For Jung the union of opposites was a lifelong concern.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h4 class=\"theme_style\">Excursion: Tour through the Exhibition in the National Museum<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Landscapes of the mind<br \/>\nC.G. Jung and the exploration of the human psyche in Switzerland<\/strong><br \/>\nSwitzerland has been home to a number of soul searchers over the years, such as Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Friedrich Nietzsche and Carl Gustav Jung. Developments in psychiatry and psychoanalysis have a close association with Switzerland, which is still in evidence today, for example the pioneering Rorschach test, Ludwig Binswanger\u2019s Daseinsanalysis or Jung\u2019s analytical psychology. To mark the 150th birthday of C.G. Jung, the National Museum Zurich is presenting its first comprehensive exhibition covering the history of the exploration of the human psyche in Switzerland. The main exhibit is the legendary\u00a0<em>Red Book<\/em>\u00a0in which C.G. Jung made his notes during an intense spell of self-reflection. Art also helps open doors to the mind with visionary works by Johann Heinrich F\u00fcssli, Emma Kunz, Rudolf Steiner, Meret Oppenheim and Thomas Hirschhorn.
