We\u2019ve entered the Anthropocene. A new spiritual reality. We seek visions for the well-being of all sentient beings in the biosphere. Visions occur at portals and passages between worlds. Places of transformation. May we find our way back to the deepest springs of life, the springs of creativity.<\/p>\n
Over the past four years, along with Clovis archaeologist Richard Michael Gramly, we\u2019ve discovered the first evidence that Clovis peoples into the western hemisphere 15,000 years ago made portable art sculptures, conducted mastodon ritual sacrifices and shaman sled burials at portals to the lower world. We have identified this at five sites. I\u2019ve deciphered Clovis eco-spiritual worldviews, by applying Siberian\/East Asian and North American ethnographic literature: creation stories, soul-experiences, shamanic practices and beliefs about portals and passages to other worlds and back to this world.<\/p>\n
I offer highlights of our discoveries at the five Clovis sites and provide some reflections on indigenous traditions, which may provide resources for a new spirituality.<\/p>\n
