Modern civilization is losing its relationship with nature. We are no longer familiar with the gestation cycles of the plants and animals that surround us, the phases of the moon, or the seasons. We have lost our intimacy with the elements and our connection to the world we live in. For 40 years Miguel has been participating in and leading earth-based ceremonies to work with Veterans, youth, people in recovery, and those interested in the old ways of connecting more deeply with nature. Drawing from our relationship to Psyche and the unconscious, Miguel utilizes poetry, mythology, and earth-based rituals as a means of inviting people out of the confining spirit of our times and into the spirit of the depths. In this workshop, he will describe how this process has successfully addressed serious issues we face in our time, such as racism, addiction, suicide, mass incarceration, and alienation.<\/p>\n
