<\/span>Heller, continues, that \u201ctime is set right when Hamlet is able to know himself better\u201d. <\/span><\/span>Therefore, she proposes that, when \u2018Hamlet describes the chaos of the soul \u2013 a chaos that <\/span><\/span>everyone who ever cast a sincere glance at himself recognizes in himself\u2019. She also adds that <\/span><\/span>\u2018one of Hamlet \u0301s selves is alienated from the other, and all his lonely attempts to put them <\/span><\/span>together, to mend the self thus torn, are in vain. They are in vain because he himself breaks <\/span><\/span>the thread to sew the selves together. Hamlet cannot gather together his personality by his <\/span><\/span>own<\/span> effort\u201d.<\/span> Is<\/span> this<\/span> what<\/span> happens<\/span> when<\/span> a<\/span> patient<\/span> comes<\/span> into<\/span> analysis?<\/span> Is<\/span> this<\/span> a<\/span> fair <\/span><\/span>description of neurosis? <\/span><\/span><\/span>Therefore, is it possible to put right time out of joint? Can Analytical psychology<\/span><\/span> help to <\/span><\/span>put right time out of joint,<\/span><\/span> when<\/span><\/span> time is out of join<\/span><\/span>t, and considering that \u2018time is not set right<\/span><\/span>
<\/span>Hungarian philosopher Agnes Heller \u2013 in her book entitled The Time Is Out of Joint: <\/span><\/span>Shakespeare as Philosopher of History (Rowman & Littlefield, 2002) \u2013 underlines that <\/span><\/span>Hamlet “is a man of conscience who knows that while relying on his conscience alone, he <\/span><\/span>ceases to be a man of honor\u201d. Therefore she adds: \u201cHe was born to set right the time out of <\/span><\/span>joint, because he was born Hamlet, the son of Hamlet, the prince of Denmark. […] Yet he is a <\/span><\/span>man of conscience, a specific man, who must think about justice and injustice, right and <\/span><\/span>wrong, and about himself. He must know himself.” <\/span><\/span><\/span>Heller underlines that Hamlet \u201cwas born to set right time out of joint\u201d and that \u201ctime is <\/span><\/span>out of joint when reason and unreason are heterogeneous, when actors do not understand <\/span><\/span>what they are doing and understand even less what others are doing or have done\u201d. <\/span><\/span>Is, to set time right, to restore eros, to regain our own integrity, psychoanalysis’s supreme <\/span><\/span>duty?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
in the sense of being returned to its former place, \u201cnew men\u201d usher in new times\u2019 (Heller, <\/span><\/span>2002, p.1). <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Therefore, which new men and new times can Analytical psychology help to mould? <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>These, among others, are a few of the questions that the 2024 \u0301s IAAP European Conference<\/span><\/span>
in Syracuse will try to answer! <\/span><\/span><\/span>We welcome submissions on the above theme, broad in scope yet grounded in the <\/span><\/span>perspective of the relevance of Analytical Psychology to the Socio-Cultural Challenges of the <\/span><\/span>21st Century. <\/span><\/span><\/span>We strongly encourage submissions from individuals, countries, and regions and that <\/span><\/span>have been historically and systematically under-represented in the world of Jungian theory <\/span><\/span>and practice, and in depth psychology more generally.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
