The (ir)relevance of Jungian theories in academic contexts Critical reflections<\/strong><\/p>\n

Renos K Papadopoulos recipient of the IAJS CG Jung Award will present the first of what will henceforth be an annual event offering prominent Jungian scholars from around the world the opportunity to present their ideas.rr<\/p>\n

Having been appointed to the first chair of Jungian psychology in a British University 28 years ago, Renos will reflect on the vicissitudes of the presence of Jungian theories in academic settings. Following a historical overview of the tension between therapeutic and academic discourses, he will argue for the value of examining the relevance of specific themes and ideas of the Jungian opus rather than \u2018Jung\u2019 in his entirety.<\/p>\n

Renos K Papadopoulos, PhD., is professor of Analytical Psychology, Director of the \u2018Centre for Trauma, Asylum and Refugees\u2019 at the University of Essex and consultant to the UN and other organisations assisting survivors of severe forms of collective adversity.<\/p>\n

Among the recent Awards he was given is the C.G. Jung Award by the International Association for Jungian Studies for \u2018Lifetime Achievement; significant contributions in scholarship and innovation in Analytical Psychology\u2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
