This week’s event lineup ranges from the shadow side of helping to the dark goddess and the body. Tonight,\u00a0Jung Archademy<\/em>\u00a0explores malignant altruism and the archetypal forces behind help that undermines both giver and receiver. Tomorrow, the\u00a0C G Jung Institute of Chicago<\/em>\u00a0offers an introduction to complexes, archetypes, and symbols in Jungian analysis. On Sunday, the\u00a0C.G. Jung Club of Orange County<\/em>\u00a0turns to Hekate as the dark goddess who holds the light, and on Tuesday the SAAJA enters unexplored territory by\u00a0examining excess weight as a communication from the unconscious.<\/p>\n

We feature two books. I\u00a0Cunha’s\u00a0Brazilian Amerindian Cannibalism and the Making of the Eternal Bod<\/em>y<\/em><\/a><\/span>\u00a0is coming soon from Routledge, and A. Maguire’s\u00a0Seven Deadly Sins: The Dark Companions of the Soul<\/a><\/span><\/em>\u00a0was published earlier this year by\u00a0Daimon Verlag.<\/p>\n

Two conferences are upcoming: the\u00a0Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Belge de Psychologie Analytique<\/em>\u00a0hosts its Third International Francophone Conference in Brussels, and the\u00a0London Arts-Based Research Centre<\/em>‘s Alchemy conference takes place online in November.<\/p>\n

We also feature two new courses. The\u00a0C.G. Jung Foundation for Analytical Psychology<\/em>\u00a0opens a course on Jungian dream interpretation next month. And the\u00a0Society of Analytical Psychology<\/em>\u00a0offers its next JPEG group-work series starting in October.<\/p>\n

This week’s collection are all past IAJS presentations.\u00a0The first sees Tom Cheetham trace the fraught relationship between Jung and Henry Corbin, exploring how both grappled with the boundary between psyche and matter. Next, poet Shadab Zeest Hashmi reads from her own work, drawing on Sufi symbology and the Quranic stories of Yousef and Bilqis.
