Egyptian themes and dreams: a practicum
From ancient Egypt, the imagery from the Nile Delta has transmitted African motifs, influenced alchemical engagements with change and transformation, and offered keen observations of the dynamics of life and nature. Across 5000 years, these images and stories emerge still in generative modern dreams. They address our common human experiences of living, dying and renewals, both subjective and interpersonal. The 4000 year-old papyrus of an internal diaglogue “The World-weary Man with his Ba Soul” amidst worldly turmoil is echoed today. The Egyptians imagined a final weighing of one’s heart with a feather. Jung entered psyche as a reflective space of self and other. Dreams seek emotional equilibrium as we engage the psychological demands and dramas of a lived and engaged life in any age.
