Shadow

Everyone carries a shadow, and the less it is embodied in the individual’s conscious life, the blacker and denser it is. At all counts, it forms an unconscious snag, thwarting our most well-meant intentions.

(Jung CW11. Para. 131)

In this presentation Dr. Beth Foley will explore the Jungian concept of The Shadow in clinical work. The everyday, autonomous and involuntary emergence of the shadow will be discussed. How the shadow presents in the consulting room and how it might be worked therapeutically in an ongoing way will be explored.
