This study aims to understand the psychodynamics of eating disorders and their meaning in the female universe, emphasizing anorexia, through an archetypal view of Jungian analytical psychology. The work is justified by the increase in the incidence of these disorders and their symptoms that generate other pathologies in the general population. Considering the meanings that pathologies linked to food assume in our Western, patriarchal and capitalist culture, being even a reason for discrimination in different social segments, the present research can be considered current and important for the reflection about this problem, both for the personal health and collective health. The research method used was bibliographic and clinical observation. Based on the disease partials, observed in clinical practice, the symbolic amplification of symptoms was sought, through mythology, in order to identify the archetypal structure of these bodily disorders and expand the possibilities of treatment. Body disorders were also considered based on a view of the dissociation of the Ego / Self and Persona / Shadow, seeking the totality of the body / psyche, through the redemption of the individual and collective soul.
