Pacifica Graduate Institute, in collaboration with Dr Stefano Carpani and Jungianeum, is launching their Graduate Certificate in Contemporary Analytical Psychology and Neo-Jungian Studies, starting in October. The program brings together an exceptional lineup of internationally recognised Jungian analysts, scholars, and clinicians for a comprehensive and forward-looking exploration of analytical psychology.
Apart from a historical overview alone, the certificate places particular emphasis on contemporary clinical applications, cultural challenges, and emerging developments in the field. Themes range widely, from the evolution of analytical psychology through Jungian, post-Jungian, and neo-Jungian perspectives, to selfhood and narcissism, gender and queer perspectives, psyche and ecology, depression and desire, cultural complexes, individuation and spirituality, the psychology of politics and paranoia, and contemporary approaches to archetype theory.
The fourteen-session schedule includes many current voices in contemporary Jungian thought. Stefano Carpani opens with a session on the evolution of analytical psychology from Jungian to neo-Jungian perspectives, drawing on his biographical dictionary of Jungian psychoanalysis. Susan Schwartz follows with a session on envy, echo, and Narcissus, the shadows of self-love and self-hate. Caterina Vezzoli addresses analytical psychology and queerness, examining how questions of gender are deeply connected to the development of subjectivity. Ruth Williams brings her work on interspecies communication and the more-than-human world. Stefano Carta explores depression as the shadow of desire. John Beebe, Elana Lakh, Henry Abramovitch, Murray Stein, Tom Singer, Luigi Zoja, Erik Goodwyn, Jan Wiener, and Mark Winborn complete the faculty roster.
Offered live via Zoom across fourteen sessions, the program runs from October 10, 2026 to June 12, 2027. All sessions will be recorded and made available to registered participants. Pacifica also has its Goddess-Makers 2026: Oracles of the Creative in an Age of Collapse conference on the horizon, gathering scholars, artists, clinicians and leaders to explore creative practice as an oracular response to collective disintegration. It takes place from 28-30 August at their Ladera Lane Campus.
