Some 3,000 years ago in China, an oracle called Change came into being. By 136BCE, it had grown into the Yijing (or I Ching); in 1949, Jung wrote the foreword to a fine new English translation; as you read this, people on every continent are consulting with Change, and finding clarity, understanding, and confidence in their choices. The tradition, the conversation with Change, has continued unbroken for millennia – but why?
Partly because of the Yijing’s vast depth and subtlety – and partly because it is, at heart, an extraordinarily simple oracle, that seems to be especially friendly to beginners. To tap into its wisdom, you need only pick up a translation* and consult it for yourself.
In these two sessions, we’ll cover:
- the language of the oracle – its structure and imagery
- how to cast your own readings and how to interpret the oracle’s response
No prior knowledge of the I Ching is needed, but it would help to bring a real translation. See the downloadable PDF for a recommended translation list.
