Entering the Forest: An Exploration of the Grimm’s Fairy Tale “The Water of Life”

The fairy tales of the world are some of the clearest expressions of the collective unconscious that we have, and as such their dream-like images preserve valuable insights into both soul and world. Join performance storyteller Jay Leeming for an exploration of the Grimm’s fairy tale “The Water of Life,” a story which can help us to find new ways forward when we feel locked in a world of stone. Leeming will perform the story in the traditional way, narrating its events in spontaneous, improvised language to the accompaniment of guitar and drum, and there will be ample time for group exploration of the story throughout. Participants are asked to bring a notebook and their dreaming hearts; this workshop will invite us not simply to passively witness this story but to step into it, fostering connections between our own lives and its life-giving images.
