Through researching the layered cultural aspects of WW2 undercover women agents' stories we can magnify and unveil western cultural shadow and its projections. We can peel away some of our enculturated and assimilated lenses via authentic narratives bringing them into conscious dialogue.
The women I interviewed were from different countries, cultures and backgrounds but what they had in common was the opportunity to step outside of societal norms, while at the same time working in the shadows of WW2.
Some of the content we'll examine includes: Why were the women recruited to work in dangerous positions usually reserved for men and why did they say yes? How was war propaganda used to keep the men fighting and to re-establish the power gradient of women to men post-war? Why were these women's stories easily erased from the historical record and why is it important now that women write about women's narratives? Also, what process brought me into this research?
