Description: In these classes we examine fairy tales to reveal life lessons in the details of the story. Life lessons involve stories of personal development, transition, transformation, overcoming obstacles and adaptation. We can see that nothing changes in the stories of individual life from centuries ago and now. The earlier stories involve the same challenges. Fairy tales reveal the bare bones of transitions through life difficulties, stripped of historical contexts, in terms that are psychologically common to all ages and all peoples, thereby expressing the structure of the unconscious in the dynamics of life lessons.
Jungian psychology proposes that the way to smooth transitions, and the inevitable way of adaptation is to improve the relationship between consciousness and the unconscious. Each week we include a comprehensive analysis of one fairy tale. We will examine the alienation of consciousness and the transition to relationship. [“The Sea Hare”]. Next, we will trace a story of individuation, individuation in relationship invokes dual individuation. [“The White Snake”]. Finally, we see individuation in of the continuity of life, individually and through generations. [“The Queen Bee”]. Here we encounter the concepts of division into four, psychological functions, and wholeness.
