Trauma and Healing – Civilization Violated
The First International Conference: Civilization Violated - Trauma and Healing, held on October 7, 2024, is an initiative led by Dr. David Gerbi in collaboration with the Einaudi Foundation, NIJA (Israel), and LIRPA (Italy). This day-long event focuses on exploring trauma and healing within the context of various global and historical challenges, with particular emphasis on the Jewish experience, antisemitism, and psychological responses to collective and personal trauma.
The conference begins with a welcome coffee, followed by institutional greetings from key figures such as Giuseppe Benedetto, President of the Einaudi Foundation, and Dr. David Gerbi, who introduces the event by discussing Jewish trauma and healing. The conference features two main panels, each comprising speakers from diverse fields, including psychology, politics, journalism, and psychotherapy.
Key topics include:
- Panel One: Addresses trauma through discussions on violence against women in war, antisemitism, and Jungian approaches to post-trauma healing. Speakers include Senator Susanna Campione and Jungian-oriented psychotherapists like Iris Elyakim-Meroz and Gadi Maoz.
- Panel Two: Focuses on psychosocial dimensions of trauma, the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, and healing in therapy, with speakers such as psychiatrist Antonio Grassi and journalist Giovan Battista Brunori.
The event is also complemented by musical performances and an art exhibition by Ora Cuperman, highlighting the intersection of culture and healing.
The conference will be live-streamed on the Einaudi Foundation's website, ensuring global access to its discussions on trauma, healing, and the challenges of civilization.
