In this workshop we will explore the seventy-eight cards of the Tarot. We will learn to understand the twenty-two arcana as a visual and symbolic expression of a psychological process that C.G. Jung named Individuation. We will learn to understand the twenty-two arcana as a moving mandala around a center while simultaneously creating it.
We will relate the four suits of the remaining fifty-six cards to the four functions in Jungian psychology and understand them as tools and tasks in the individuation process.
We will focus particularly on the psychological challenges when encountering these archetypal forces. Clinical vignettes will be presented.
In a playful and experiential way we will explore how the imagery of the Tarot can be used as an adjunct in the analytic process not only for self-reflection but also in the therapeutic work with an analysand.
No prior experience with the Tarot required. The imagery used will be from Rider/Waite deck.
