The Imagine Body: the Soma in the Intersubjective Field

This seminar focuses on the role of the body during the analytical process. We will explore Jung's concept of the body as shadow and subtle body, as well as the psychoanalytic understanding of the body. We will place special emphasis on the analyst's awareness of the somatic experience of both the analyst and the analyzer; The somatization of psychological symptoms will also be highlighted. We will point out the importance of developing sensitivity to somatic information as a means of understanding and interpreting unconscious interaction in the analytical field.

Objectives:

1. Develop Jung's conceptualization of the body in analytical psychology.
2. Develop an understanding of the psychoanalytic model of the body.
3. Increase awareness of somatic experience in the analytical field.
4. Increase awareness of somatization of psychological symptoms.
5. Create analytical interpretations based on the somatic experience of both the patient
   like the analyst.
