The upcoming conference will feature a diverse range of presentations exploring psychoanalytic thought and clinical practice. Francesco Bisagni will examine the paradoxical nature of the psyche through Jung’s image of Abraxas, drawing comparisons with Bion’s A Memoir of the Future and a case study of an adolescent patient. Marco Francesconi and Daniela Scotto di Fasano will introduce a model of mental development using the metaphor of a condensing nebula, integrating insights from Klein, Bion, Bleger, and Ogden to explore the autistic state of mind and its therapeutic implications. Jay Barlow will present The Umbilical, a clinical paper discussing the impact of early relational trauma on gender and identity, focusing on analytic work with a trans patient and the use of Louise Bourgeois’ artwork to illustrate projective identification. The conference will offer a rich engagement with contemporary psychoanalytic perspectives, fostering discussions on transformation, resilience, and the intersections of Jungian and Bionian thought.
