“The Andes have a way of taking hold of you, filling your soul with their silence and strength” — Salvador Allende, former President of Chile
This presentation will include a personal narrative, grounded in experiential initiatory encounters with the Andean shamans and Andean cosmology and Incan codes, as it relates to implicit states in the psychoanalytic literature of preverbal states, and imaginal states in Depth psychology. The similarities between these different perspectives will be woven together, circumambulating around the “re-entry” experience of shifting from unconscious to conscious states.
A description of the challenges associated with shadow aspects of re-entering temporal states in physical reality after undergoing a mystical experience as well as an experiential account of atemporal states of ecstasy will be presented. Some of the paintings that the author completed immediately after returning while the author was processing these other world encounters will be included to illustrate the “felt sense” of atemporal states of connection and return experiences.
