A psychotherapist is required to weather any situation with their clients. Among the most difficult psychotherapeutic tasks is working with depressed people. It is with them that we tend to step out of our position and delegate this work to other institutions. It is not only the external passivity that makes this work so difficult, but also the activity in the direction of suicidal ideation or even suicide planning.
If everyone else loses the ability to communicate with a depressed or suicidal loved one, it is still assumed that a psychotherapist can do it. But where do we get such superpowers? What are our resources for these situations?
Rather, a necessary condition for finding answers is to clarify one's own relationship to death and to contact one's "inner suicide". I would like to invite you to share your memories and attitudes towards suicides with whom we have been in any proximity. Did we walk the path between life and death with our clients by our own decision? Do we know about the completed suicide of our clients? How do we personally relate to the finitude of life? How familiar are we with our own possibility of voluntarily ending life?
