In this workshop, we will explore contemporary American cultural complexes with material drawn from my two recent volumes: Cultural Complexes and the Soul of America: Myth, Psyche, and Politics which won the Gradiva Award for Best Edited Book in 2022, and my new book, A Field Guide to American Cultural Complexes: The Battleground of the Splintered American Psyche. The two books use Jungian psychology to analyze the powerful, often unconscious, emotional patterns (cultural complexes) that drive American political and social polarization. The workshop will encourage group discussion as we work together to come to grips with the fragmenting forces of American society from a psychological perspective.
