Understanding Modern Alchemy in Today’s Journey
We look forward to the book launch for the book The Tao of Alchemy: A Path of Individuation by Bob Mannis. Bob is a long-time supporter of the Jung Society of Washington, having been a part of the early steering committee that became our current Society. For this program, Bob will discuss the main points of his recent book with John Hayes, a Jungian analyst from the Baltimore area. The primary topic, of course, will be modern alchemy—a psychological process of individuation (a type of maturity), as well as the four pillars of courageous authenticity, and an examination of Mercurius in modernity, especially in our dreams. Bob says, “The major overarching theme of the talk will focus upon finding true, experiential meaning in one’s life.” Please join Bob and John in their discussion and get to know the direction and form of Bob’s fascinating subject.
In The Tao of Alchemy, clinical psychologist and Jungian advocate Robert F. Mannis, PhD, invites readers to explore the symbolic quest for inner transformation through the lens of modern alchemy. Unlike traditional approaches rooted in collective spirituality or external judgment, this work offers a deeply personal and experiential path to meaning, fulfillment, and spiritual growth. Drawing on decades of psychotherapy experience and Jungian analysis, Dr. Mannis illuminates the mysteries of the unconscious (the verido) and its dynamic interplay with everyday life (the nigredo).
This book challenges conventional paradigms, including the judgment-based framework of traditional Christianity, and instead advocates for understanding, creativity, and courageous authenticity.
Discover the transformative power of modern alchemy and embark on a journey of self-discovery.
