In several situations in which there is a life-threatening situation, the clash between living and dying takes place, creating suffering and the need for adaptation. In old age, in dementia situations, several reorganizations and processes happen from the polarity of death and life. In the end, this pair is discussed as a metaphor for understanding the analyst's training process, the analysis process and the interfaces between these two experiences. The text uses the reference of the psychology of Carl Gustav Jung and post-Jungian authors, in addition to references from literature, cinema and other areas of knowledge.
