The Archetypal Raconteur: Moonstruck

The Archetypal Raconteur: Moonstruck

In the distant past we sat around the fire, listening to the elders – the Raconteurs – telling us sacred stories about origins of life and the journey we’ve all embarked upon. Each story prepares us by helping us to see the archetypal rhythms of life, and in understanding the universal challenges and mandates etched into humanity’s psyche to which we all must give response.

Films follow in the long tradition of storytelling. Through a presentation of scenes from the critically acclaimed movie Moostruck, we will see that while archetypes take the guise of modern figures, their message remains eternal. In this film we see an awakening of the spirit in Loretta (portrayed by Cher) and the liberation of the masculine captured in the character of Ronny (played by Nicolas Cage). Together they are brought into a rich tapestry of life, something they each felt would forever elude them. Come explore the archetypal message of a film that touches all of us hoping and hungry to come into deeper contact with what gives us life, and helps us to see the challenges that could prevent us from bringing what we most love to fruition.
