PSYCHOSOCIAL WEDNESDAYS: I Ching – The Book of Changes

More than a century ago, Freud gathered colleagues for Wednesday meetings that opened the world of psychoanalysis to a wide range of powerful ideas. Psychosocial Wednesdays are modeled on those Wednesdays and on Jung´s meetings at the Psychological Club, and feature speakers from various psychoanalytic traditions, schools, and associated fields.

The I Ching (Book of Changes) is an ancient Chinese book of wisdom that contains valuable knowledge gained over many centuries. In this way a tradition full of living psychological and spiritual wisdom was created, one that can be very fertile, opening up supportive access to one’s own soul. With the help of the Book of Changes, one gains an overview of a difficult situation and finds answers to personal questions. Conflicting feelings are ordered and included, proceeding from knowledge of the still-hidden developmental possibilities of a given initial situation. In the best cases, one can experience oneself as more self-determined and active.
