In her recently published article, “Picasso and the Archetypal Imagination” (Jung Journal, Psyche and Culture, Vol.15, 2021, Issue 2) Professor Joan Uraneck describes (through Jungian exploration and interpretation) nine paintings completed by Picasso in 1946 in Antibes, France, where he moved at the end of the German occupation of Paris. The paintings depict the Roman mythological figure of the faun. Professor Uraneck describes how Picasso’s archetypal imagination used this image to lead him on a journey of individuation. Relevant to anyone interested in individuation- all are welcome- including artists, art historians, Jungian scholars, analysts, and enthusiasts as well as students and the general public. The program will include a visual presentation with time for questions and conversation.
