The human being, Jung once declared, cannot live a meaningless life. We are profoundly in need of a vital relationship to life and to the transcendent source of our being. Jung called such a relationship “The Symbolic Life.” With the decline of engagement in collective religious traditions, together with the perpetual distractions of a digitally saturated world, we have lost the art of relating to the symbolic dimension of experience.
In this talk we will explore how we can once again “tune in” to this essential aspect of our psychological lives. What does it mean to listen to symbols? How can we learn to experience the reality of a symbol so that it can speak to us and connect us with our own life-giving depths?
