Climate, Psyche and Dreams: How Engaging With Climate Crisis Changes Us

Ecological crises are challenging both the world, and our view of it. The climate emergency in particular calls for a development of new understandings about ourselves, our lives, our societies and our planet.

Depth psychology can contribute by exploring present and future imaginings about the world, recognising the influence of old myths that drive climate disruption, alongside the new myths emerging in response. It also recognises the value of exploring difficult emotions and sharing dreams that climate crisis evokes.

This talk explores how climate conversations can facilitate consciousness change, psychological resilience and sustained action, drawing on stories taken from research group discussions where participants shared dreams, imaginings, frustrations, grief, hopes, fears and inspirations in response to their engagement with climate issues.
