This three-Sunday class explores our relationship with the ancient Sumerian myth of the goddess Inanna. It is the second oldest written myth on our planet. This is a profoundly relevant story of a feminine life, spanning from her childhood daydreams through attaining power in civilization, embracing love, and finally learning the ways of death in the underworld.
We will explore this vital story and our relationship to it by applying depth psychological methods such as personal association, amplification, active imagination and ritual to key parts of the story.
This class combines presentations, experiential exercises, group discussion, and ritual. No previous knowledge of the myth of Inanna is needed.
Participants may wish to read the book Inanna: Queen of Heaven and Earth pages 4-89 by Wolkstein and Kramer, but it is not necessary.
