Stephen Aizenstat is opening enrolment for his Dream Tending Certificate I Program, running from January 15 to June 2027. Stephen is the founder of Pacifica Graduate Institute, a world-renowned depth psychologist, and one of the most significant figures in contemporary dreamwork.
The Program, Who It’s For, and Enrolment
Structured around four three-day online modules, the Certificate I program offers a full immersion in the craft of Dream Tending. Dream Tending is Aizenstat’s distinctive approach to working with dreams, which treats dream images not as symbols to be decoded but as living presences to be met, animated, and tended. Over six months of live, interactive sessions led by Aizenstat and co-teacher Louise Rosager, participants develop a fluent, embodied practice for working with their own dreams and the skills to guide others.
The four modules move through distinct dimensions of the dream life. January’s opening module introduces the essential tools of association, amplification, and animation and establishes a personal dream practice. March turns to nightmares, developing a practical approach to sitting with intolerable images, and discovering the healing possibilities they may carry. May widens the lens to the world’s dream and how, in times of uncertainty, the figures of our dreams speak the psyche of the larger world. And the final module in July, drawing on the ancient Asclepian tradition of healing dreams, explores the relationship between dreaming and physical illness.
The program is open to all, no background in psychology or therapy is required, and it is suitable for beginners as well as experienced practitioners. Clinicians, therapists, coaches, and nurses will find direct application to their professional work, and 40 continuing education credits are available for qualifying practitioners through Pacifica Graduate Institute.
Partial scholarships are available for those with significant financial need. Places are limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact the Dream Tending team at hello@dreamtending.com to register or discuss your options. Early bird registration is available until June 30, with a $500 deposit to secure your place. You can find more information here.
Also from Dream Tending: A Montana Retreat This October
For those looking for a more immersive experience before the Certificate program begins, Aizenstat is hosting an exclusive Dream Tending retreat in Southern Montana from October 14 to 19, 2026. The retreat is an intensive in-person workshop in which Aizenstat works directly with each participant’s dreams, guiding the group through association, amplification, and animation in individual, dyad, and group settings. Limited availability remains.
Stephennst Aizenstat’s Books
Those new to Dream Tending will find Aizenstat’s published work an excellent entry point. Dream Tending: Awakening to the Healing Power of Dreams is the foundational text, recommended reading for all Certificate participants. The Imagination Matrix extends his thinking into the broader role of imagination as a force for personal and collective renewal. And Imagination and Medicine: The Future of Healing in an Age of Neuroscience, co-edited with Robert Bosnak, brings together medical scientists, healers, and practitioners to explore the relationship between imagination and physical health.
