The International Society for Psychology as the Discipline of Interiority has announced its 12th international gathering, and for the first time, the conference is heading outside North America and Europe. The gathering takes place August 27–29, 2027, at the Shonan Village Center in Kanagawa, Japan. A hilltop venue with views of Mount Fuji across Sagami Bay, roughly 50 kilometres from Tokyo.
This year’s theme, “Dreams, Neurosis, and the Factors that Heal,” invites proposals drawing on the theories of neurosis and dreams developed by Wolfgang Giegerich and C.G. Jung, alongside submissions examining cultural, historical, or clinical phenomena through the lens of psychological interiority, be that a dream, myth, fairytale, clinical situation, or cultural phenomenon read as an expression of the logic of the objective soul.
ISPDI describes its own founding commitment as treating psychology itself as inescapably internal. Since the psyche has no outside vantage point from which to view itself objectively, a purely psychological psychology must be a discipline of ongoing self-reflection, and one that recognises its own insights and theories as themselves expressions of the psyche it studies.
