Halloween Ritual and the 4th Task of Grief: A Celtic Jungian Approach

When our loved ones die, hospice grief counselors teach us that we have four tasks that happen concurrently: 1) accept the loss; 2) accept the processes of grief; 3) reconstruct our solo lives; and 4) build a new relationship with our beloved, however we imagine their lives after death. Carl Jung can help us imagine life after death, and the Celtic Samhuinn (Halloween) ritual can create a space to communicate with those we love on the Otherside. The Celtic Samhuinn Ritual is one of the oldest Druidic rituals on record. The time of Samhuinn lasts for 3 days – from October 31 to November 2. During these 3 days Celts believe that the Veil of Time is lifted and we may commune with the Otherworld. In this evening program we will explore how to create a ritual in which we can place our losses of the past year into the Cauldron of Healing, open ourselves to the company of loved ones beyond the Veil, and receive wisdom for the year ahead
