    James Hollis

Dr. James Hollis is a Washington D.C. based Jungian psychoanalyst and the author of seventeen books.

His current project takes him in a bold new direction. It is a documentary film tentatively titled “Soulheal.” James is collaborating with filmmaker José Enrique Pardo and producer Shon Tomlin on this project, which is inspired by his book “Under Saturn’s Shadow.”

We are, the sages tell us, just dust, even if it is animated dust, that is, matter with a soul. One of the ideas that haunts contemporary individuals and groups is the fantasy of “happiness”. So what is “happiness”? Can we find her? Is it really the purpose of life? How does happiness compare to the other claims that life makes of us? If the purpose of life is not happiness, what is?

James Hollis, PhD, is a Jungian analyst trained in Zurich and practicing clinically in Washington DC. He is the author of 19 books that have been translated into 20 languages. An internationally acclaimed analyst, he is former Executive Director of the Jung Educational Center in Houston, Professor of Jungian Studies at Saybrook University, and Vice President Emeritus of the Philemon Foundation. His books include The Eden Project: In Search of the Magical Other; Finding Meaning in the Second Half of Life; What Matters Most: Living a More Thoughtful Life: The Middle Passage: From Misery to Meaning in Midlife; Hauntings: dispelling the ghosts that run our lives; Mythologems: incarnations of the invisible world; Living an Examined Life: Wisdom for the Second Half of the Journey; and his most recent books: Living Between Worlds: Finding Personal Resilience in Times of Change and Prisms: Reflections on This Journey We Call Life.
