This seminar will be a whistlestop tour of research methods in psychology. The content will span experimental and non-experimental techniques, surveys, observations, and interviews; along with their relative strengths and weaknesses. Data analysis will be considered both quantitatively and qualitatively and we will explore the concepts of reliability and validity in research. This presentation will position research in psychology as whole, outlining the general trends of research in psychology.The ‘fit’ of psychodynamic theory in experimental psychology will be briefly considered.
