At least since Aristotle there has been a debate about what constitutes “the good life.” On one side of the debate is pleasure as the primary measure of life, and on the other side is a life filled with virtue and meaning. A new entrant to the debate has recently been formulated: the psychologically rich life. This new perspective is focused on novel, perspective-shifting, and interesting experiences. Can these three models of life be combined? Can they perhaps even complement each other? Can we learn from each how to construct a better life? Through lecture and discussion, this workshop will endeavor to answer these questions and provide tools for reflecting on, and creating, a better life.
