Since Joseph Campbell introduced the world to the idea of the Hero’s Journey, its enchantment has been felt by and influenced legions of artists and thinkers, including those that work for the film industry. Come consider the explosion of superhero stories in the cinema, and the wisdom that emerges when they are examined through the lens of The Hero’s Journey. We will discuss how, like Odysseus, Black Panther, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Spider-Man leave their respective homes, are initiated into strange new worlds, and return and transform the lives they left, developing universal human qualities along the way – wisdom, knowledge, humanity, courage, justice, temperance, and transcendence.
