The Whale, arising from the depths of the ocean into our dreams and stories. At different
times feared monster, hunted foe, or vessel for the journey, revered majestic creatures,
embodying the mysterious oceanic otherworld. We will consider different portrayals of the
whale in fairy tales and the way in which bringing a psychological understanding to these can
enrich our relation to the promptings of psyche.
What does it mean when the Whale, or other animals, present in our dreams and the dreams
of our clients? How may pondering Fairy Tales contribute to our understanding of the journey
of individuation?
