C.G. Jung Birthday Fundraising Lecture

The Jung Society of Washington presents our annual celebration of the birthday of Carl Jung (July 24) a “free fundraiser” with the internationally known and highly regarded Jungian author and analyst Dr. James Hollis.  Our goal for the fundraiser is $10,000.  We use this to support our Annual Fund which includes our scholarship fund.  Last year we gave 18 scholarships to people to come to our programs.  Who do they go to?  Some go to people we have known for some time and who are Jungian scholars.  Some go to people from countries outside the US who study Jung, but due to circumstances or economics in their country, they cannot afford the programs. -We take this on a case-by-case basis, but are happy to support people who need help to study Jung! If we have learned anything in the past few years it is the importance of the internal journey.

Description:

The erosion of contemporary institutions and mythic structures triggers both the loss of meaning and the summons to go within to recover a link to the numinous.  The appearance and disappearance of the gods is described in order to dismantle and critique the ego’s futile management systems.  Finally, the mystery of meaning is revealed as something that rises autonomously from the psyche of the individual and links the person to the transcendent, for a while.

What is a free fundraiser?

Our program is a free program and a fundraiser — a gift to all who need or want one and an expression of thanks to our Jung Society of Washington community.  We’re offering it free to people who want to dip their toes into Jung, but can’t commit, or to people who just need a free program for whatever reason.  These last few years we all just need a little support sometimes, and we want you to know that we are delighted and grateful to have you with us!

Sometimes people reach to us for economic support to join our programs.  Donations offered in thanks for this lecture will support our Annual Fund, a portion of which supports of our “scholarship fund,” allowing us to extend programs to people who are otherwise not able to join us.  If ever we have doubted, these past years have convinced us of the critical importance of the inner journey.

IF you need a gift, please come to this lecture for free.  However, as a non-profit we are of course in need of donations.  On average, the first $5 of your donation covers the cost of the Zoom—without the additional labor costs.

This year we have added a few tweaks to our free fundraiser, so if you think you know about this, check the changes below.  We have some incentives for you.  Of course, you can come for nothing.  But if you donate up to $35 your donation will be met by a wonderful anonymous donor. That means if you donate $5 it becomes $10, if you donate $10 it becomes $20, if you donate $25 it will become $50 and if you donate $35 it will become $70!  We are pretty excited about all of that!!  And of course, if the amount you are trying to donate is not listed below, feel free to go to Jung.org/donatenow and input the donation of your choice. We will make sure you receive your donation acknowledgement and admission to the fundraising lecture.

In addition to the new donation system, and our wonderful donor’s support we have these incentives for you:

– If you donate $20, you’ll be entered to win a book by Jim Hollis

– If you donate $50 or more, you’ll be entered to win a SIGNED book by Jim Hollis

We are also very excited to announce that Jim Hollis has spearheaded the development of a series of lectures on Jungian psychotherapy. It covers a variety of topics and the segments are given by internationally known Jungian analysts. The series will be available internationally soon for purchase on our Teachable website. We will keep you posted on this, but you will want to view it, and have it to review regularly.

Please join us for our Celebration of Jung’s Birthday. We appreciate your presence and your generosity and as always — and we can’t say this often enough — we thank you for your continued participation in and support of the Jung Society of Washington.
