Two brothers, polar opposites: Uwe is hard-driving, insufferable, self-concerned. His family walks out on him, and, wallowing in his grief, he pleads with brother Gustav to have pity on him and take him to Japan. Gustav has arranged a long-planned trip to a Buddhist retreat to get his introverted head together and had not remotely conceived of how this could disturb those plans. In the end, Gustav relents. The two are delighted with Japan, but the first night they lose track of their hotel where they had left their passports, their money, luggage, all their belongings. Thus begins a delightful and unexpected journey of self-discovery and transformation. Directed by Doris Doerrie, in German with English subtitles.
