Every semester, Dr. Ann Friedman of The Jung Center’s Mind, Body Spirit Institute will lead us on an ever-renewing exploration of the transformative, healing, and calming powers unleashed when we integrate mindfulness practices into our daily lives. Join us – as you can – for Mindful Being.
Compassion, a human necessity for survival, is at the heart of all spiritual and ethical traditions. Remember the outpouring of help and assistance following Hurricane Harvey and other disasters? Often, what we see following these major events is the best in people. It warms our hearts to give, and to help to improve the lives of others. We feel deep connection even with those we do not know: those of other races, religions, political beliefs, neighborhoods, economic statuses, or cultures. But it turns out we don’t need disaster to bring out the best in us. Compassion is not only something that is hard-wired, it can be developed for better relations in our daily lives.
Come join Psychologist Ann Friedman, a Certified Trainer for Cognitively Based Compassion Training®, a program developed through Emory University’s Center for Contemplative Science, and Compassion Based Training by Lobsang Tenzin Negi, Ph.D., a former Tibetan Buddhist monk. Through this eight-week course, you will learn a system of mental exercises that improve psychological resilience, and lead to more-inclusive and lasting compassion.
