Descent to the Underworld: Loss and Rebirth

Everyone faces moments of transition and loss that transport us into other worlds – worlds of forgotten ideas, memories, and dreams; of fears, pain, and confusion; of riches, creativity, and healing. For a time, we learn to live in these many worlds, and whenever our time in them is done, we find that our everyday life has changed permanently. All cultures have myths and tales of journeys through the underworld. By analyzing some of these myths, we will address the elements we will encounter in the underworld, its strange laws and layers, and the different psychic possibilities we have when it comes to navigating these journeys. Join José Leal for another whirlwind tour of the soul – this time through the land of the dead – and make the material personal through a brief active imagination exercise.
