O filme apoia-se na vida do ator e diretor Yusuke Kafuku e entrelaça sua história de vida com a peça que está dirigindo (Tio Vânia, de Anton Tchékhov) e com as estórias que sua esposa Oto conta. Ao longo de 3 horas somos levados por uma narrativa profunda, densa, delicada, entremeada de silêncio e diálogos imprescindíveis, ao encontro de questões humanas fundamentais: amor, vida e morte.
Serão feitas considerações sobre dimensões existenciais cruciais para o ser humano apresentadas pelo filme como a busca do sentido da vida, relações de amor e traição, elaboração do luto e a passagem do tempo.

The film is based on the life of actor and director Yusuke Kafuku and intertwines his life story with the play he is directing (Uncle Vânia, by Anton Chekhov) and with the stories his wife Oto tells. Over the course of 3 hours, we are taken by a deep, dense, delicate narrative, interspersed with silence and essential dialogues, meeting fundamental human questions: love, life and death. Considerations will be made about crucial existential dimensions for the human being presented by the film such as the search for the meaning of life, relationships of love and betrayal, elaboration of mourning and the passage of time.
