This class draws on the ancient Greco-Roman mythic tale of Amor and Psyche. We will explore the four tasks of Psyche as an initiation into the feminine mysteries.
We live in an era that is so dominated by masculine values and ways of being that for most of us it feels natural and we are not aware of it. The Jungian understanding is that the masculine and the feminine are qualities that exist in both men and women and are both necessary to coexist for wholeness. Some of us, both women and men, feel called to explore the feminine within the psyche in its inner and outer expressions. What are sources we can draw from in our search for the authentic feminine? How can we value the feminine in our lives? In what ways can the feminine help us as we seek to rebalance our relationship with our planet Earth?
The teaching modes for the class include an opening and closing ritual, a grounding into the origins of the story, storytelling, opening images, and commentary, followed by a guided writing experience, and group sharing and discussion.
